I'm looking to buy my first car in the US. Something not too expensive, but which I can use to travel within close states at least, and for regular day-to-day transit.

It must have excellent fuel consumption and value for money.

Suggestions are humbly welcome.

Used Toyota Camry, or Honda Civic, accord, CRV. Nissan are pretty reliable too, other than those three makes, you’re risking reliability.

Keep in mind though, you should check tires, and brakes, don’t buy anything that’s going to need those in the next few thousand miles, OR if you’re looking at a car and either of those are close to needing to be replaced, point it out and offer 500-1000 less than asking price.

You are better off spending a little more on a reliable car that won’t need any work soon.
