I'd like to take my girlfriend out somewhere nice for our anniversary. We're not the kind of couple that believes the more expensive a place is the better it is, so I'm not concerned about the price but it doesn't need to someplace that known for being expensive, if that makes sense. Just looking for a place with a nice atmosphere that feels like a romantic place to go on a date and get dressed up for.

L’Ostal in Darien has the best service of any restaurant I’ve been to in Fairfield County. Absolutely delicious. You can make it as expensive or less expensive as you like (you could both get pasta and the wine by the glass and keep it reasonable or could blow it out and spend hundreds of dollars) Hard to get a reservation. They’re on opentable.

Olio is a great date spot in Springdale.

Some nice plates might be Cafe Silvium, Olio and Match in Norwalk.

My wife and I love Siena. Legit Italian food, not uptight, great cocktails.

Le’escale at the Delamar in Greenwich. It’s not really much more expensive than other restaurants and really nice. Have a wood fire place. Bring cash for tipping valet.

Chez Vous Bistro is my typical recommendation. Kotobuki is also an intimate spot but maybe not what you're looking for.

Olio is fantastic. Cafe Silvium is really good too.

I went to Prime recently and it was great but definitely very expensive.

I like Barcelona, their wine selection is extensive and the food is good too!

You can go grab a drink at tomato tomato if there's a wait. They also started taking reservations during covid, although I haven't been there in a little bit and that may have changed again.

Columbus Park Trattoria. Excellent drinks, service and Italian food without the waiting/price of Cafe Silvium (which, for the record, is very good, but yes, impossible to walk in and get a table at a normal “dinner” time)

Le Fat Poodle in Old Greenwich. Spectacular food and service. And if it’s a birthday, they’ll sing you 50 Cent / BeeGees birthday remix. That’s always a plus.

Brasitas in Stamford. You won’t find better tasting food in town!

Another vote for Cafe Silivum. Two friends of mine (a couple) go there for their anniversary annually and swear by it.

Barcelona can get pricey but try the location in Norwalk CT way nicer than the Stamford location and even nicer Spring and Summertime at the Barcelona in Fairfield off the Meritt at the Hi Ho Hotel iis a great spot.
