I hate to be cynical but, how do we know all that cash will be used properly?

Sometimes you just want to do something good and trust other people.

Trusting the Turkish and Pakistani governments, got it.

ellsammie t1_j8aa9ws wrote

Exactly. There must be an international aid agency where those $$ have a shot at getting used on the Turks and Syrians that were in harms way. For me that's Doctors without Borders. But I am sure there are others.

White Helmets? How do you donate to this organization?

I dont understand your reference. MSF is bad?

Doctors Without Borders and White Helmets are incredibly good organizations. What is MSF?

ellsammie t1_j8d1a9l wrote

MSF is DWB. Sorry, I use them interchangeably. Should have been consistent. Thanks for validating their worth...and I I didn't know about White Helmets, so I looked them up and will put them in the donation rotation.

Médecins sans frontières, the other name for doctors without borders.

Read the article, no where did he state that was a requirement for HIS money. You could as well donate $30 million then be cynical when its your money.

Plot twist - it was actually $50M and was only reported as $30M

Ahaha I'm wondering which luxury cars or watches have been boughten right after donation by you know who supporters and their precious religious(?) children?

The man from the US was Pakistani. I read that in another thread about this.

How do you donate 30 million anonymously? Cash? That's 300kg if they are USD 100 bills.

LordHades301 t1_j8ccw4i wrote

It's crazy what a check can carry. But that's a fun measurement to think of

tinkthank t1_j8cs09n wrote

He’s not anonymous. You can’t walk into an embassy anonymously. He probably asked to remain anonymous.

Metric units? For US currency? How dare you…

Tinchotesk t1_j8ddvp7 wrote

USA is metric, just doesn't want to openly admit it 😉

well_uh_yeah t1_j89cuwx wrote

I'd like to think I'd do that kind of thing if I had that kind of money...but I'm kind of doubting it. That takes a truly good person, especially to do so anonymously.

6

LiamYanon t1_j89havb wrote

Yeah, i made sure it was anonymous as I didn't want the credit.

Polymorph49 t1_j8b08gm wrote

Rich people can be kind and generous, in fact many are. Although, $30m for this person is likely to be pocket change. Still a nice gesture that will hopefully help many people.

You also ask for a lifetime visa when you donate as much as this.

You never, ever know when you need a Visa till you do.

I would help each person individually instead of donating, it’s so hard to trust people would do the right thing.

If it's reported by the current Pakistani PM it needs to be verified.
