And first Gay!

I'm assuming no other has had that last name.

How about Claudine Gay to be Harvards new President. I get the importance of it and so does everyone else.

Btw if you ever get a chance to hear her speak. Pretty awesome.

Why shouldn’t the headline mention the historic nature of her election?

Did they announce the twenty or so women regardless of race that where put in charge of other schools across America, that never had female leadership? No they didn't. So why is their achievement less then this person's.

Are you telling me these women are less important because the colleges and universities aren't named Harvard?

Last, we need to stop emphasizing race and gender as quantifiers. Either they are qualified or not.

She is more than qualified. I don't care if she is a woman or black. I care she will do the job.

So you tell me why it should be celebrated. Why should we announce a black woman being put in the position of a pretentious elitist school, while other womens achievements are ignored because the word Harvard is not attached to it.

Harvard is one of the most prestigious and well known universities in the world.

Yes Harvard is well know, but is it famous because you are told it's famous. To an engineer Harvard is garbage.

All perspective, you still haven't quantified your argument as this one woman's achievement is more important as to other women doing the same job or why we should honor her say vs a person who is put in charge of a local college.

The most interesting kind of fool is the one who says their grievance is based on facts, but in the end it's just based on grievance.
