I don't know. Opportunity is good, there's everything I need, I'm comfortable.

But people are strange, and it's lonely. Everyone talks about the beauty of the state but I don't see it. It's so dull and there are just roads everywhere, it's not walkable. If there is beauty I guess you gotta drive 2 hours away to see it? Some days it feels like I'm living in a junkyard. I thought it was just Everett, but it feels like the whole Seattle area is like that, haven't found a place that clicks.

Ex: you look up "beach" on Google Maps and in theory there are plenty around but they're tiny and inaccessible. Same for parks, half of the park is a parking lot. I don't get it.

I haven’t lived there…yet. But perspective is important.

We’re about to move to Washington from Texas. I welcome open roads, trees, water, rain and isolation. I’ve lived in Dallas the last 5 years and the heat is literally killing me and my 2 young boys. Not to mention the violent drivers. I’m ready for access to waterfalls, ocean, trees, hills, precipitation. We’re looking to embrace all the ‘negatives’ that Washington has to offer and look forward to it.

It’s all about perspective.

coming from illinois, to me the beauty is literally everywhere here in washington. i’ve been to most of the states, and this one stands out majorly. sometimes i meet people who are from here that also don’t see the beauty, it genuinely confuses me. the summertime here is the absolute best. endless things to do and it’s all stunning.
