That's really impressive. The canyon walls are wild. Great pic!

I always love this scene when trying to spot the hearing elk. Makes for a cool eye spy photo.

I can hear it now. Thanks for the memory refresher.

It looks like the approach to Mordor.

You like Lord of the Rings in Washington?

Yup, that's Glacier Creek coming out of the background joining the North Fork Toutle River in the foreground. Shot from Johnston Ridge.

I think the main part of the North Fork is hidden behind the cliff in the foreground (trees/plains).
The main creek/river in the picture that is going off into the distance in the top left doesn't really have a name on maps I'm looking at, but it's next to Glacier Creek. It's probably part of Glacier Creek. Seems like it's big enough to be a river!

Google maps didn't have it. Gaia GPS tags it as Glacier Creek.

Are there any hikes that go down there?

If someone wanted volcanic ash to make pottery, well, there's a lot there :).

St. Helens is quite an impressive sight to see. I highly recommend views from the rim of the crater! So worth the long hike.

God, I love the landscape in front of that mountain. There's just so much to see and you really get the ridiculous scope of it all.

I couldn't decide on how to crop this. I know it's not a perfect composition, but it's the best I got of the river on this day.
