My girlfriend and I are moving away to Texas (probably) permanently. We currently live in Western Washington (Bellingham). We would love ideas for things to go and see before we leave. We are down to travel basically anywhere within the state as we may not be back for many many years. Google typically brings up space needle, pikes place and some hikes which we have done already. Maybe y’all have some hidden gems. (Eastern W isn’t off the table)

So sorry you have to go to Texas, how depressing. Especially from Bellingham, such a beautiful area.

All the tacky tourist activities at Long Beach. This is the cornerstone of my childhood summers.

Me, too. Twice a year, almost always the Fourth of July, and then some random other week or long weekend.

I live and am from Long Beach, CA, (yeah lol) and I was up there visiting a friend recently moved and now lives in Ocean Park in December. She took me to LB. Fun times. Very similar vibe like my LB. I’ll be back up there soon to explore more of that great peninsula. Already did a long run on the beach. My friend has two kids so still wanna do go karts and the arcade at the amusement park.

I’ve been in Whatcom county off and on since 2010 but grew up in yakima wa. In no order my memories…

If you haven’t been to the gorge you need to make a trip.

Long Beach WA and all the tourist summer activities.

Hoh Rainforest.

Soap Lake. It’s weird, an experience for sure.

Wine country - yakima valley, tri cities, walla walla. Great tours, hundreds of places.

Mount St. Helens visitor center.

Orcas Island, or any/all of the San Juan Islands.

If the weather cooperates, drive the moutain loop highway. See at Diablo Lake. See Snoqualmie Falls. Hike to Dirty Harry's Balcony. Have a Guinness at the Blarney Stone. After hours Underground Tour. Watch the sunset at Golden Gardens. Go white water rafting on the Skykomish river. Anything Mt. Rainier related. Take the train from Bellingham to Vancouver Washington and make sure to find the volunteers giving commentary about the scenery. On the east side of the state. Drive the Columbia River Gorge on the WA side. See a concert at the Gorge Ampitheater. Camp at French Cabin and visit the cafe from Northern Exposure. Eat a burger at Minor's in Yakima. Float the Yakima river on innertubes. Go wine tasting in Walla Walla. See Palouse Falls. Visit Whitman mission. See the view from the top of Steptoe Butte. Ride the gondola over Spokane falls. Grab rings from the carousel in River Front Park. Visit Manito Park, the greenhouse, and rose gardens. Mt. bike or ski at Mt. Spokane State Park. Visit Grand Coulee Dam. That should give you a start. LOL. Good luck!

Well if you’re driving south, definitely go down the 101 along the peninsula at least. Maybe head out to Cape Flattery and spend a night in Forks and make a day of the Hoh. If you go out east, check out Walla Walla..but honestly eastern WA is going to look more or less the same as Texas

Since y'all are in Bellingham, I'd recommend Pixie Falls if you haven't been there yet! I'd call that one a hidden gem lol
