Hello all,

I have a vehicle that I won as a parts car for one of my cars from Copart, some parts I did sell of as well that I did not need. Now I'm pretty much left with just the shell of the vehicle.

It seems like scrap yards won't take the vehicle without a title, I do have the invoice and bill of sale from Copart but they still don't want it. Would there be any way to get a certificate of destruction or something? Honestly it would just be much easier for me to cut the vehicle into small pieces and throw it in my truck and haul it away but I don't know if they would still take it that way, I'm assuming it can't have any vins on it that way either.

Thank you for any info that anyone can give me, trying to do this legally.

You have to get a scrap/salvage title for it. Contact the vehicle crimes division of your local police force. Get them to sign a thing saying that it's not stolen, get a salvage title. Take it to scrap yard. I've done it on two parts cars, a detective comes out, checks the vin, runs it in the DB and you're good to go.

Just called them, got told to contact WSP and would have to trailer it over to them to get a Inspection done, over in the Spokane Area.

In Seattle an actual detective comes out. He’s a nice guy though, actually a car guy and I’ve run into him since at a couple car events.

Dang, sucks that I'm not over there, also asked about a hulk permit said they wouldn't do one since the bill of sale is too me and not some random car on the property.

Yes, post it on craigslist. There are plenty of scrappers who will come and get it.

Sounds like it's time for you to host your own giveaway for this parts car!

Honestly, might just post free scrap metal on craigslist and get a bill of sale for it for the person who's taking it.
