Her current housing situation ends in May and she plans to camp after that. She is in her 70s and I want to find someplace safer for her than camping. She can't cross the border to me bc she has no passport. Please send me any info on what might be available to her in Washington state.

US Citizens may enter Canada without a passport if they have what the Canada Border Services terms "acceptable identification."

She should be able to cross the border by land with a wa state enhanced driver's license. She'll need her birth certificate to get it, but it should be immediate unlike a passport.

Besides the other IDs people mentioned. I'm wondering why "no passport" is a problem? I mean, there's still more than a month's time, just get one if needed?

Current processing times for a US passport are 10-13 weeks for routine processing and 7-9 weeks for expedited.
