White Salmon > Hood River imo

We're newer to the area, and were initially worried we'd be crossing the bridge constantly. One year on and our friends in HR are the ones more likely to jump the river to hang with us on the Washington side.

Looks like this is just below the hospital. Miss the view from there.

Pros:

  • Better views of Mt. Hood, HR Valley, and the Gorge,
  • Less crowded, especially in that there are fewer annoying tourists and people just stopping off in the middle of a trip down 84 or 35,
  • Still close to Hood for skiing, the Columbia and other rivers for water sports, and national forests for various outdoor activities,
  • No state income tax,
  • Super underappreciated wineries (personally I really love Cor and Aniche, both of which have views to rival even Stave and Stone, but without the highly commercialized almost Disney-esque vibe),
  • Neighbors are super helpful (at least mine are),
  • Can literally look down on Oregonians in HR.

Cons:

  • Need to go to HR or the Dalles for most shopping,
  • The Bridge of Death,
  • Neighbors are super helpful.

It's official: your view beats our view.

It's honestly so beautiful around here that comparing views starts to feel like debating which Bach concerto is the best. In any case, whichever view is better, you're a way better photographer and I wish I could capture what it looks like over here in Underwood half so well as you do!

White salmon is such a great spot. Also home of arguably the 2nd best brewery in the state.

I tried to find GOOD property for sale in White Salmon for the longest time before giving up. It is hard.

Ace Hardware, but I'm sure they sell it in a few places.

Such an awesome place. My mom lives in North Bonneville and works in White Salmon. The view from her work is also super amazing! I can’t wait to escape the Midwest to that area someday

You’re looking pretty close to Bingen (however you say it) territory...

There is an insanely popular make out spot just above your house. Because of this view exactly.
