Hey everyone, my gf and I are currently traveling the US and will be in Washington state tomorrow to 29th . As the weather seems a little nasty we thought about doing a road trip for some days mostly in the east part of Washington state as weathers there looks better. We wanted to ask if you like to share recommendations like beautiful sightseeing stops , festivals, or anything that comes into your mind. Thanks a lot, looking forwards visiting Washington again after many years. Cheers

Drop by some of the wineries in between Walla Walla and Yakima. It’s a world class wine grape growing region for a reason!

While you are on the east side near Walla Walla, take a half-day trip north of there to Palouse Falls. Some of the best scenery on the east side of the Cascades.

It will probably be snowing in the mountains. I’d recommend checking out Mt Rainier NP if you get a chance. Beautiful drive in the snow! Just be sure to have tire chains if you do go.

Download the WSDOT app if you plan on driving over mountain passes, it can go from zero to shitshow in a heartbeat this time of year.

If you get this close, Leavenworth is a little corny but it's so much fun. And it's really pretty. There may even be light snow as opposed to rain there right now.

If you are traveling through all of the states consider this: Alot of Eastern WA is like other parts of the country. The truly unique things are on the West side. Depending on the direction you come from, see the north cascades highway (check of course for road closures), Deception Pass, Pike Place Market in Seattle... Avoid the coast as you can see good coasts to the south as well. Embrace the weather.

Depends a bit on where you’re starting and how long you want to drive. Check maps- It’s a big state and packs some serious traffic onto roadways in/near cities that consumes time.

Grey and wet is what the West side does from not until March+

Never attempt to head home over the passes on a Sunday. Everyone is trying to get home, all at once, so the Snoqualmie Pass traffic jam of people trying to get to Seattle can stretch from The Summit all the way east to Ellensburg. Oh and US2 is a fucking death trap. Speaking of traps, i90 is lined with speed traps from Cle Elum to Issaquah.
