There are a number of snowshoeing places near Steven's. One I've done before and would recommend is Suprise Lake.

Eight and a half hrs.of daylight. Lazy breakfast in Index town. Stroll along the river and over to the Town Wall to play. Drive to Skykomish for early dinner maybe. Back to cabin, build a fire and relax.

Unless the owner finally died I wouldn’t eat there. That old codger repeatedly refused to spend the money on cleaning up the bakery…

We’ve gotten sick eating there twice and finally stopped going 3-4 years ago after an event where the older blonde lady repeatedly handled money then touched donuts with her bare hands.

When reporting our illnesses to the health department the second time around the gal taking the report made mention that we weren’t the only folks to call in about it that time around, so it wasn’t an isolated event.

You would be better off driving to Leavenworth for dinner, I lived in Skykomish, they was only 3 places to get food and they are all pretty bad

Except Leavenworth is an architectural and cultural "cutesy" shit hole invented by the Chamber of Commerce 50 years ago and Skykomish is areal mountain/railroad town.
