Ok, romantic was your must have and I don't recall if it fit that bill or not, but the best Italian food I've ever had was at Il Terrazzo Carmine. A boss took me there for lunch like ten years ago and assuming it's still as tasty as it was. The entrance was in Post Alley and it was, to me, a hidden gem. Some fancy priest was in there, with the full garb on, and people kept approaching his table like he was a celebrity.

Try Cafe Juanita in Kirkland.

Beautiful venue (don't let the front fool you), and at least the last I was there, a delicious northern Italian inspired menu. Haven't tried their new post-COVID menu, but I expect good things from this chef.

Maximilien or Place Pigalle are both really good and pretty romantic.

Can you really say you love someone if you haven’t seen them eat a bag of Dicks?

I didn’t mean to rain on your parade! I did consider maybe I should keep my opinion to myself. Maybe it was an off day. They do have nice views and Tacoma is somewhat lacking in fine dining establishments, I assume because of its proximity to the big city

Unpopular Opinion: Never waste money on pasta. It’s 5¢ worth of box pasta and canned sauce from some shitty Cisco or FSA food truck. And fuck Bizarros. They’re just as shitty but with crappier service and a 20% mark-up. If you want pasta, set the table, light candles, and whip it up yourself.

Romantic and Italian? Spinasse is a must. One of my top ten restaurant in the area.

If you're ok not doing Italian, Flintcreek in Greenwood is also incredibly good.

Okay wow, replied to your comment above because I wholeheartedly agree but also was going to comment here to say Spinasse. They have a small menu, but it’s so thoughtfully created. They’re the only place I know here who makes such thin and elegant pastas. They’re simple but extremely WOW. I’m always impressed whenever I go there. They have great cocktails and great romantic ambiance too (if seated in their main dining room)
