Every time we'd come into the city on a field trip, we'd always beg our parent chaperone to drive by the pink elephant and the toe truck. Simpler times.

The toe truck is at mohai now, I was so stoked to see it, felt like when I was a kid

The larger Pink Elephant sign is also at mohai! This is the smaller one that didn’t rotate.

I didn't know it ended up there! I'll have to go down.

There's two, a right foot and a left foot (MOHAI). I saw the right foot on the road in Greenwood a couple of years ago.

I always have the same memory here; The time back in 85-86 where my brother got lost at Seafair and me & like 7 siblings and cousins were stuck sitting in the back of a tan '68 ford pickup (with canopy) staring at that freakin' sign for hours while all the adults scoured the city for him.

Happy ending, they found him innocently watching the midnight parade, but that sign will be in my brain forever.

Glad to see it up, but it just doesn’t hit the same.

That won't be confusing to someone from out of town... /s Hey, there is a car wash sign but no car wash? weird.

God SLU is so different now. I remember when it was maybe my first or second time in Seattle, I was broke. Since I was a bum, my friend told me to go “fly a sign” (panhandle) at the 99 off ramp right there on Denny and I remember thinking “what a ridiculous sign”

It's back?!? The actual original???

Man I remember returning a car to like a block from there in the early aughts real early on a Sunday morning and marvelling at how empty the stretch of parking lots were there. Should've bought property...

Do they have touchless? I haven't seen a touchless car wash in ages

Why did they add neon to the water coming out the trunk? Looks like it’s pouring snot now..

aaabsoolutely t1_j0vmr9k wrote

It’s always had that, the lights for the water blinked like the water was pouring

Edit - at least the bigger spinning one did

That pink Elephant has been around forever, it's great to see that he has a new home.

So they put in a sub pop store, which is particularly eggregious. Now erecting artifacts from the city they helped destroy in the tastelessly sterile neighborhood. This is dumb.

comfortable_in_chaos t1_j0tang6 wrote

Yeah, SLU was so much better when it was a sea of run down industrial buildings and parking lots…

Not originally from Seattle huh?
