Once I went skiing in -25 in Vermont. It was fun.

I lived in Anchorage for a few years. Discovered that I liked day hikes in the winter much more than summer. I will admit, this was largely due to bears being in hibernation, but I was surprised at how much I liked the cold. When you can dress for it, it makes a big difference.

I hate the heat in summer. Cold just requires you to manage layers & be aware of times. With heat, there is no escape (I almost got a heat stroke when I went backpacking during the peak heat season).

Yes! Prior to Alaska, we lived in Texas, and wow. One summer it was three straight months of triple digit heat, plus Houston humidity thrown in for good measure. I made the mistake of taking the kids to the pool and not getting in the water myself. After a while, I felt kinda sick, and realized I was just way too hot. Got in the pool and felt so much better.
