If I-84 is closed, SR-14 is only marginally better. That does not mean it's drivable for the average person. Do not drive.
Do not even attempt it in the next two days without chains ON YOUR WHEELS. Do not even attempt to drive it in the next two days without your car fully stocked with emergency supplies, including food, water, blankets, and battery backups. Do not drive unless you have comprehensive coverage on your vehicle.
Like seriously, the gorge - including SR-14 - may get another inch of tomorrow. Just don't drive.

Drove on it for 60 minutes last night near white salmon and it was absolutely terrible, lots of ice buildup on windshields and less plowing than I had expected.
I do not recommend it and definitely not 4 hours on it today.

I drove SR 14 east from the I82 interchange to 164th street in Vancouver in November after an ice storm in the Columbia Plateau . At several points driving over smaller bridges I nearly lost control of my car due to black ice. 10 out of 10 would never recommend. Do yourself a favor and stay put.

Head east via Mexico, itβs the only safe route at this point

When I-84 closes, SR-14 is guaranteed to be pretty bad. And today (next couple of days, actually) it's going to be very icy.

Well guys so I ended up doing the drive and right as was passing washougal a truck with a big sign that said sr-14 closed up ahead. I guess some snow fell off a cliff onto the road blocking both lanes like an hour before I got there. Ended up taking 26 up MT Hood and taking i84 the rest of the way. Made it even tho it was very sketchy especially on all seasons in a 2014 Scion TC manual. Thanks for all the responses :)

From the sounds of it I'd be better off going over MT Hood then SR-14 π

Isn't 84 usually way better than 14 even though it's just a little bit south?

These are WSDOT'S cameras. They refresh every 2 minutes. A couple of them show SR14.
Drive safe!!
Edit: numbers
