Hope he doesn't show up to the court date when you contest it is basically your only hope, maybe hire a lawyer, but that's gonna end up costing more than the ticket so it depends how badly you don't want it on your record I guess.

I hired a traffic lawyer for something very similar and it was actually a bit less than the cost of the perceived infraction- I just googled “traffic ticket lawyer (my area)” and called a couple to inquire about their fees. Saved me the fine and my insurance going up.

While my daughter, little miss lead foot was on our insurance we made her pull money out of her own savings account to hire this Attorney gal to get her tickets reduced to non speeding violations. She spent about $2400 on 10 or more tickets. Some people never learn. She is 28 and still gets tickets.

10 tickets?!?!?!? Holy shit yeah that’s a bit much. I’ve had two in my life (one at 19 and one at 35). Didn’t contest the one at 19 (cuz I did it) but had the traffic school opportunity. The one I got when I was 35 was the one similar to OP’s situation. That’s the one that the lawyer got dropped completely for me.
