Safe from what? Your family will be fine anywhere in Kitsap County.

It's all about risk assessment. You clearly are quite conservative with yours.

It must feel like being a real cuck to be so afraid of everything. Maybe you just need to pull up your bootstraps and grow a real backbone.

Brainbridge is beautiful but a little out of our price range for rentals unfortunately.

I would say Silverdale, Poulsbo, or Gig harbor (Pierce county though). I’ve lived in Bremerton and Port Orchard too, Port orchard has a really popular town talk page where you can see just how crappy some folks are. The schools in Port Orchard are absolute garbage. We came out to gig harbor when we had a kid just for the schools, plus it’s nice. As you go north you have the military base (Poulsbo area) and more diversity with that. Over on this side of the sound is definitely not as liberal and I see a lot of trump crap near me but you’re still in a very liberal area, as is the this side of the state.

Would you say other areas are a little less “trumpy”? We were looking into Tacoma initially but heard that there’s some safety issues. Seattle is a little too much of a big city (+ out of price range) for our preferences but we’d like to live close enough to commute on occasion.

Kitsap County is filled with Trump folks. As a biracial nonbinary person I made the move to Tacoma because I was tired of the whispers and sometime blatant racism. There are safety issues in Tacoma, as in any city, but it is also a place with so much character and a ton of families and communities. Moving towards Kitsap from King or Pierce County it just gets more conservative. I grew up in Gig Harbor and it is a Christian town, but like pseudo religious where all the teens still drink and have sex but feel comfortable discriminating against marginalized people.

Good to know! Which areas of Tacoma are “safer”? I visited a few years ago but only to see friends that lived there at the time so I wasn’t able to get a good picture of the city aside from a few really cool places we visited

We love Port Orchard—little town that feels much more authentic than (for example) Gig Harbor, Silverdale, or Poulsbo. Feels safe here, schools are supposed to be really good. Foot ferry to Bremerton (which does NOT feel very safe to me!), which has better restaurants and maybe more to do, depending on what you like. I’d raise a family here!

My friend is in south Kitsap sd (port orchard) schools and says they haven’t passed a bond in years the schools are overcrowded, the teachers are overwhelmed and there is a major lack of resources/opportunities. She is often frustrated with the ‘trumpism’ among her children’s peers so if you are looking through the lens of lgbtq+biracial, you may be frustrated as well or often put in a position to advocate for yourself.

This is exactly the kind of first hand experience I want to hear! Folks that aren’t bipoc or lgbt they may have totally different experiences!

Basically how weird US school funding and districting works Basically find the best test score school you can afford a place in it's catchment area and 99.5% of the time it will be the safest and most progressive area you can get in Washington.

Fun things-lots and lots of places to hike. The Puppet Museum in downtown Bremerton is a great little place to visit. The bug museum might be interesting for them.

If you think racism and prejudice (if not outright hatred) of gay people is a thing of the past, you're living in a delusion. There are many, many people who do care if you're gay or brown. They hate you because of it.

But based on your posting history, I know you're just dog whistling. Same for the disingenuous "enlighten me" parroting.

Wipe your conscience.
