Those maps are based on years, centuries, of data. Flooding in your town outside the recognized 100 year floodplain are anecdotal incidents. Expected anomalies that can happen with natural systems. If you want some other anecdotal stories from randos, rather than do your due diligence with official flood maps when you're investing a half million dollars, then you do you. I'm mean fuck science, right?

Flood maps don’t show urban rainfall driven flooding. They show where rivers and coasts flood.
