Hey! I was hoping someone could provide a recommendation for a good financial institution to use in Washington in order to secure an auto loan. We are buying out my wife's lease and would like to finance the payments. We're new to Washington and it seems like there are so many—SCU, BECU, WECU, the list goes on. We live in Bellingham.

Getting the best rate is obviously most important, but good customer service too :)

Thank you!

Though GESA doesn't have a Bellingham branch, they would be my recommendation. I've had an account of some sort with them nearly my entire life and never had a problem.

If the age of the vehicle is an issue, maybe look up SnoCope? The place I bought my 2006 Toyota went through them, good rate and no issues.

The car lot people said that SnoCope was one of the few who will finance older cars, don't know if that's true though.

If you’re shopping in WA, BECU is probably already in a relationship with the dealership and will be on the menu of options presented by the finance manager. They’re the largest credit union in the state for auto loans by a big margin.

How about interest rates guys. Which credit union has the lowest interest rates you've seen?

Yeah I also disagree. It was a few years ago, and our final loan was about that, but when we got pre-approved to see how much we could borrow, they were prepared to let us borrow more than twice that amount.

We also had a good experience with BECU with an auto loan. I think it probably helped that we already banked with them, so in addition to the dealership connection they had it was super-easy to set up automatic payments. That said, it’s been a few years (that loan is long paid off) and as our general banking institution we’re not 100% happy with them. Too much to go into detail here, but basically we feel they project that they’re as competent as big banks in tech and customer service knowledge, but that’s not the case. We like they’re a CU, so still with them now, but casually looking at alternatives. Anyway, if they can offer a competitive interest rate, I would still say go for it.

If you’re in bham, Industrial Credit Union all the way. Never been happier with a bank/car loan than when I had one with the.

BECU or Kitsap CU, I’ve had loans through both. They’re both good but my APR was slightly lower with Kitsap.

I have been impressed with North Coast Credit Union

You might want to look at OBee Credit Union. No experience with auto loans with them, but with home and unsecured loans. I'm very happy and pleased with them in all of checking, savings and other accounts. They have been good to me.

We live in Washington but our car is through Oregon Community Credit Union. We love them and the experience we've had the last 2 years!
