You are correct that this area has a LOT of avy hazards! I was originally going to head up to Herman Saddle but turned around on account of obvious and increasing avalanche risk. I always prefer to err on the side of caution.

Thanks for that! I'm just trying to get the area and hazards figured out.

Amazing picture. how was the trail to the lake? was it well defined or did you have to do route finding on snow?

There was a visible trail but it snowed about a foot yesterday. That said, Bagley Lakes are pretty easy to find!

Gorgeous. Hoping to make it up there sometime this year!

Crazy to think I swam in that over the summer

Haha! Even in summer it's a very chilly lake! Respect!

I am just starting to explore Baker in the winter and LOVE Heather Meadows/Artists Point but am also just beginning to understand avalanche awareness and how to navigate. One of the things that is stressed in almost any class/group is that Bagley Lakes is an extremely dangerous terrain trap with a high probability of avalanches from that mountain face just out of the photo on the right. Had NWAC lowered their Avvy Danger yesterday?
