It looks a lot different than in August. It is really pretty in the spring when it's sunny and blooming. Good picture!

This looks very cold! Curious what were the day time / night time Temps and what was in your kit that made the biggest difference, most comfortable, etc. Thanks for sharing a very rare glimpse of beautiful winter WA.

We got to the trail head around 2 and the lakes around 3. It was in the low 30s when we arrived and low 20s in the night. I wouldn't say any of us were super comfortable but my 15 degree sleeping bag + a blanket + a thermal pad and a sleeping pad helped me a lot. I had a four season tent but it didn't prevent the frost coming forming on the inside of the tent.

April is a good time to go, hopefully before it warms up enough for the rattlers to emerge. I've backpacked there like 5 times, but in different locations; there is so much space in all directions to camp and get a private spot; you don't need to be right at Ancient or Dusty Lake and the crowds.
