Hey, I'm an undergrad student from Dublin, Ireland who's been accepted for a paid student intern position at UMass Chan over the summer for about 10 weeks from the start of June to middle of August.

I've started looking for accomodation but I'm running into issues with all of the recommended complexes (Princeton place, Eastview apartments) having a 6 month minimum lease term which obviously isn't feasible for my 3-month maximum stay

I'm just looking for suggestions of websites/places that could be of benefit to look into? Thanks

We must get at least 1-2 spam emails per week from students and (mostly) postdocs who are looking for roommates. Do you know your lab yet? If so, reach out to them so they can start forwarding you those emails.

We just had a new postdoc join our lab who lives in Boston with their spouse. They wanted to rent a local room to avoid city traffic and found one within a week or two.

Lots of colleges in that area and students are out of school May - September. You may be able to sublet for the summer. I guess you would probably need a car, though, as most schools are not walking distance.

Check out Shrewsbury. Lots of complexes that offer 3 month leases but they will be expensive.

You could look into local universities and ask the housing department where students are renting out. Plus the student affairs offices should have advertisements made by students looking for roommates. It’s a safe idea to try.

I would stay away from websites like Craigslist’s if you’re a lone person. Usually it’s full of creepy and weird or suspicious dangerous people.

Post this to college related forums and Facebook groups in the area. Many students have year long leases and want to sublet their rooms while they are on summer break.
