Hey everyone,

I wanted to thank the subreddit for the wonderful Sushi recommendations on my previous post. I had Sushi Miyazawa and it was mind blowing! Willy’s Steakhouse and Kai are next up for sure.

However on my culinary trek of Worcester I’ve found a new target: coffee! I’ve tried On The Grid and Fuel America, but what are your guy’s favorite places to grab a cup of joe?

Which location?

Go straight to the roastery on Brussels. You can buy beans they roasted the week before (and bags are buy 3-get 1 free), and they usually have a light and dark roast on tap.

Birchtree Bread is a phenomenal popular spot, and Root and Press is a personal fav of mine and my fiance. The staff at both are super nice, and R&P has plenty of dietary options available. I will say however that Birchtree has gotten drink orders wrong plenty of times, so just be aware of that. And stay far, far away from Nu.

Also forgot to mention but acoustic java is really nice, good quality stuff with plenty of atmosphere to spare

What is Nu?

Nu Kitchen. Can confirm that their coffee is usually pretty crappy. Not a bad spot for lunch though, or to set up shop and do some remote work.

It's primarily a brewery but Redemption Rock does a good latte.

Also New Tradition.

New Tradition is on radar, and the Redemption Rock note is killer insight! Thank you!

Redemption is a great tip; bonus points for having a lovely space to hang in, and, beer.

I personally really like the Bean Counter. They have a lot of good vegan options as well

Coffee is 😙🤌 chef kiss approved. If you’re feeling something sweeter opt for one of the frozen blended coffees

Hands down the best coffee in Worcester.

Plus a great bakery and study joint for WPI students. There's even a professor whose regular offices hours at at Bean Counter.

I'd recommend the Highland St. location. Grove St. is fine, but not as good.

I just tried the Acoustic Java near Rotman's and recommend it.

I also love New Tradition. I think it's on Jackson Street in the Main South area.

iKrave on Park Ave doesn't get enough recognition. It's good for more of a donut shop style coffee and iced coffee. They have some great muffins and other baked good, too. Definitely not that hipster vibe you get at the first two places but it's been my go to for a quick morning coffee before work.

Stop Cafe on Park Ave

Great coffee, I'm not a huge coffee drinker- but when I want one- I go there. the coffee is still impeccably made.

They also have Albanian food served for lunch and dinner, it's also a pizza place. Albanian food is excellent- pizza not so much.

Added bonus- the owners are very easy on the eyes.

fremenator t1_is1wk1u wrote

We love the pizza there

Everything else was great. Pizza was meh. If they were solely Albanian food they'd be a top notch spot for me. We've got enough mediocre pizza spots in the city.

My favorite coffee here is Acoustic Java but it's not conveniently located for me. Same goes for New Tradition; I only go there when I'm getting a haircut at Heartland. Favorite coffee in my neighborhood is Root & Press, just wish they had better hours. They aren't open early enough for me to grab a cup before work. If you're in the area of Acoustic or New Tradition, I highly recommend those. Both have great product/service and a nice space to chill.

I’m really excited to try Acoustic out

Precovid I use to work out of a lot of the coffee shops in the city to get out of my house. These were my favorite.

Acoustic Java (roast their own and easiest place to work) New Tradition Birchtree (partly because of the food as well)

Fuel was pretty good but I like to support an Indy. I wanted to like Grid but I found the coffee to be pretty subpar.

2

Altogeist OP t1_is1j8nw wrote

I think it’s cool that Fuel is a mass based chain, but like you said, it’s better to keep the money local

Substantial_Bread195 t1_iryzxgl wrote

Nu Kitchen if you’re looking for a chill sippin oat latte by some plants vibe

Dippin donut if you’re looking for desert in a cup

Birch tree for the ✨vibes✨ (also their coffee is very good so bonus)

Acoustic Java!!! Best espresso around

I think we’ve named every coffee place in Worcester! Acoustic & Crumb are my favorites for a quick, take out coffee (with a pastry if you’re feeling fancy). If you want to sit down & feel super fancy, Dead Horse Hill is great for a leisurely weekend breakfast/coffee.

I LOVE Acoustic Java. The iced coffee there is excellent, I'm not sure which beans they're using but I was impressed that I could taste a complexity of flavor - usually when I get iced coffee it just has that general bitter/acidic coffee flavor but it was like toasty and nutty there. They also have a nice selection of beans you can buy. There's other stuff there too but haven't tried yet.
