We have a kid on the way in a few months and want to try and lockdown some spots with places in or near the city. I'm currently leaning toward the JCC or YWCA for daycare because there's also benefits for my wife and I at those places along with things our daughter can do there as she grows. Thoughts?

Completely at sea when it comes to a pediatrician. Looking for all recs.

We use Chandler Pediatrics right on Chandler Street by I think it's June Street. They have been just wonderful.

Seconding Chandler. They're like the doctor I had when I was a kid, not the corporate crap that dominates Worcester medicine.

We have been going to Harding Pediatrics for 15 years. It’s not the most elegant office, but Dr Emma Hughes is an amazing thorough doctor, and the staff is very responsive as well.

I just started using JCC since September. We were previously at Goddard School in Auburn. Since the move we have had no issues or concerns with the JCC. Be aware that the daycare does require a membership, but it also has other perks like the pools, gym, spa, and exercise classes for parents, plus additional classes (swimming is one that we do). Plus we liked that once our kids are in elementary school they can go there for after school where they pick up right from some local schools.

The JCC and YMCA don’t take infants. First friends is great.

We go to Child health associates. They have two locations and are the only pediatricians associated with Boston Childrens in central MA (important if necessary, probably irrelevant if your child is healthy their entire life).

We also go to Child Health and really like them! They have a nurse line you can call with questions, and we’ve had no trouble calling at 8am to get seen the same day for sick visits. Worth mentioning that while we live close to the Shrewsbury office and go there for well visits, we’ve had to go to the Auburn office for some sick visits because they’re bigger/better staffed.

Call and get on daycare wait lists now. The YWCA had a 4 + month wait list not too long ago. Sometimes availability will drive decisions, but if you don’t get on the waitlist you won’t have options.

Also look at First Friends for daycare. They don’t have the same perks, but a solid core staff and very well run.
