Hi everyone, I'm planning to move from Boston to a place on Elm St next year. I'm super excited but also nervous since I haven't lived in Worcester before. Please let me know your opinions on safety/walkability/things to do/communities around that areas!

Also, is there any board game meet up in the area? :D

The northern end of Elm Street is very near That's E! an awesome comic shop that has game meetups.

Do you ever play magic there? Any idea of friendly the regulars are? I’m moving to the area in a few months and hoping to find people locally to play magic with

Staff is welcoming and great. I myself haven't played game nights, but I see the signs/groups when I shop.

Can we just start a seperate- "I'm moving to Worcester.....?" pinned thread? I've seen 5 of these posts today, which is fine- but maybe a question and information thread might help a lot of people with questions. We can have a different neighborhood thread's on each- etc.

I live on Elm St. I’m happy here. Walking distance to downtown, Highland st, Elm Park/Park Ave. Also pretty quiet at night. There’s a few halfway houses that sometimes start mischief but I’ve never feared for my safety. It’s a good walkable area while still being safe IMO.

I love elm park. I am the weirdo that goes for a walk on break from the Sole a few times a week. Walking with a shirt and tie always gets me looks.

Elm st is pretty central, so take your pick. As far as safety goes, people will always complain about anecdotes but based on hard facts we're one of the safest citiesin the nation. You'll be close to Elm Park and a bunch of restaurants on Park Ave, not far from downtown or the Worcester Art Museum either.

Elm Street is a fine street. A little to the south towards Chandler gets kinda sketch, but even then it’s not terrible. Highland St is really nice. Lots of good bars and food joints. Plus WPI is right there, so good security with the student presence.
