So we've had T-Mobile for a few months and love it. While we're not getting gig speeds or anything like that, consistent download speeds of 50-90 megs is more than enough for our needs. But here's a brief review of the service for those on the fence about it.

• You don't need a router. When you sign up they send you their 5G gateway. It's about the size of a Pringles can but a little thicker. It acts as both modem and router. There's a small display on the box that shows connection strength and a few other things.

• Don't change the password. On the gateway there is the network password which will be a string of nouns. Don't change it. If you need to reset the gateway it'll reset to the default and make reconnecting everything a pain.

• when you set it up listen to it's placement recommendation. I initially kept it on the first floor near where our old modem was despite the device saying that the best spot was upstairs by a window. My speeds were hit and miss and bad at best. Moment I moved it upstairs everything worked as it should. Listen to it.

• there is no Ethernet option. This is meant for wireless and wireless is what it delivers. My wife and I stream video and use our devices for pretty standard 21st-century things and that's about it. If you are an intense gamer that needs high speeds consistently, this might not be for you.

• Lastly, don't play around with the Gateway. You get it shipped free to you when you sign up. Break it or lose it somehow? It's $375 to replace. So put it somewhere secure and out of the way.

It's a great system that's super intuitive to use and easy to maintain. if you can get it I highly recommend it.
