I just moved to Worcester from PA and I’m looking for a place to get good bagels. Also I guess suggestions for things to do and places to meet people (I’m outdoorsy and nerdy). But mostly good bagels. They’re my go to breakfast and these store brand ones will be the death of me.

Bagel Time. Best bagels, best cream cheese flavors.

Be prepared to wait 30+ minutes for your bagel. No city has needed a second bagel place more in history than Worcester.

The cream cheese here is key, it's an act of love. Highly recommend the salsa cream cheese for those who enjoy a little jalapeno.

Definitely go to Bagel Time. It's an iconic Worcester business, and they have great stuff. It's right on Park Avenue, near the Price Chopper.

Best bagels but so so awfully slow its painful. They should hire a WPI student to optimize their service. The owners could make a killing there but on the weekends it takes absolutely forever to get anything. There's nothing more I'd like in Worcester than a good bagel place that doesn't take 45 minutes to get a bagel on a Saturday.

No lox spread? I’ll pass. Edit:on their website menu there is no lix spread. Lox sandwiches but not spread. I’m new to the area- if it’s not on the menu, how would anyone else know?

It’s been a while since I stopped in there, but they used to have a cream cheese/lox/caper spread…do they not anymore?

Bagel Time is the best, and if you go on a Saturday morning the line will be like forty people long so that could be a good opportunity for meeting other bagel enthusiasts. For nerdy things, That's Entertainment is wonderful and Free Play's worth a try. If you're into beer, Redemption Rock always has a crowd of people worth meeting and Greater Good is an excellent brewery too. Also, welcome!

Awesome thank you! I’ll have to check out free play, in a fan of beer!

Bagel time like everyone is saying, although their coffee is terrible. Market 32 makes surprisingly good bagels I end up doing that a lot bc the line at bagel time is always long.

Just to piggy back off your comment bc I pointed out price chopper too. Market 32 is the same as PC for anyone new to the area! Just branded more to look like a whole foods

Agree. Bagel Time is a well-loved institution in my heart, but it's more realistic for me to pop into Market 32, and their jalapeno asiago is incredible

Bagel Inn (just outside of Worcester in Holden) is my go to, but Bagel Time is a local institution and always solid too.

Bagel Time! But I did have a good one at Crust the other day too.

Bagel time park ave, bagel inn in holden, and surprisingly the price chopper on park ave, down towards salisbury on the WPI campus (maybe all the PCs idk)

if your used to bagels from nj-ny bagel time is garbage, i think people recommend it bc it’s better than dd. Just get used to no good bagels until you travel through the tri state

Notfromcorporate t1_j3cgchy wrote

Completely agree.

Better off just buying a half dozen from stop n shop if you want them.

Am from NJ - agree Bagel Time is not worth the hype. I drive to Cafe Fresh in Sterling for my bagels, buy a bunch and freeze them for later.

pricechopper on park used to have real bagels they were awesome...now they're glammed up hamburger buns like everybody else including bagel time...good bagels ARE NOT about cream cheese but crunchy exterior, soft and chewy interior. there is no substitute.

CoolAbdul t1_j3ciri8 wrote

NY is 3.5 hours from Worcester. Montreal is 4 hours.

i make it to north jersey/ nyc in 2.5 hours as long as it’s not rush hour , op is from pa, he’s not getting his bagels from montreal

If you want to take the 25/30 minute drive, main St bagels in Hudson is also fantastic. The downtown is also super walkable with a few good breweries (medusa, lost shoe-who also serves coffee) and an ice cream place with a speakeasy entrance. Good time if you have a day to spend.

idio242 t1_j3h3k6n wrote

Not to be pedantic, but Lost Shoe is in Marlborough. We’ve got Hudson envy, so have to call out our few bright spots :)

2

framedmushroom t1_j3h3rka wrote

Nope youre right. My bad lol. No reason to have Hudson envy, Marlborough has a lot going for it as well. I used to live there.

Bagel Time!! Sometimes you can order online through Instagram and save a little time, but it's worth whatever wait you'll have. They're the best!

There is a new place in Kelly Square but I haven’t been there, and there is Bagel Time on Park Ave, they are great and they make great cream cheese flavors

Unfortunately the place in kelly square closed

Oops so hard to pay attention driving through there with my eyes closed on my foot flooring the gas while praying lol

I never even was able to try it. I think timing when they opened was bad with covid hitting and the location being challenging for parking. I think it was Anthem bagels

NativeMasshole t1_j3ckacq wrote

You probably won't find bagels there, but check out European Bakery and Pastry off of Kelley Square and maybe you'll find a solid alternative.

As everyone has said. Bagel time. Ask them not toasted. Doesn't need it!

Bagel Time. Best bagels in the city hands down.

But if you’re in a pinch and it’s the weekend & the lines are too long, the price chopper across the street has great fresh bagels in the morning.

If you’re ever in Reading, Peabody, or Salem, Bagel World is the best.

littleepatina t1_j3gi381 wrote

there's a few bagel tables in the metro West area (Natick Ashland etc) they're small but crunchy exterior and chewy interior

Bagel Time is barely adequate but will fill the craving. Daily Bagel in Leominster is slightly better. If you're ok with the drive, NY Bagel Factory in Southboro is really good!
