Could use some clarity on what's fancy to you but to be safe I'll recommend Birch Tree Bread Company, Nuestra (Puerto Rican place), and Mint (Vietnamese place).

Boulevard Diner on Shrewsbury Street has some surprisingly good Italian food. Home made sausage and fresh Italian bread from Culpeppers. Makes a quick tasty lunch stop. They also have typical diner breakfast fare all day.

For vegan/veggie - Belmont vegetarian and Loving Hut are AMAZING. For a fancier restaurant I recommend El Basha, really yummy Mediterranean food with awesome hummus and baklava.

Not fancy and not a chain....but uniquely local: go to Palmas for one of their sandwiches (a popular favorite is their italien) and one of their bakery goods.

Best cheap sandwiches & pizza: Boomers across the street.
Best fish or egg rolls (that can be an entire meal): The Egg Roll Lady & Fish Shack on Goldstar near QCC
