You'd have to take the Grey hound to get to NYC but not a bad choice. I used to take them from Central ny to Worcester, added a couple hours to the commute but 0 driving and the ability to sleep. Certainly worthwhile adventure.

You can also get there by train. Union Station > Back Bay via commuter rail, and then Amtrak Acela to Washington Union Station. Not sure how much that would cost, but it's doable.

You’re way better off taking a bus than commuting back to Boston then down to NYC

Maybe, depends on the person, but it’s just not what you’d “have” to do as if there’s no other options

And I will say, the time isn’t that different if you take the Acela. Plus, trains are fun

OurBus is way better than greyhound and it's direct! More limited schedule though.
