Howabout that bigass mountain range when it said “10 miles west of Boston”

I literally thought they jumped to the Pacific Northwest.

Then it said 10 miles outside Boston….

That's actually accurate. It's a depiction of Mount Watatic in Ashby. Much bigger than you think. Mount Watatic is 37,000 feet high.

Right!? Like what happened to Waltham? Suddenly the entire urban environment is replaced by a mountain range with a conveniently located Cumbies

Or how the gas company is was in New Bedford and then all of a sudden he was in Lincoln.

Top is what is portrayed in the show for 2003 (the year the outbreak happened) outside of Boston. But Cumberland Farms looked like the bottom photo in 2003.

Ya know I'm starting to think they're showing alternate universe... Where the shape of your Cumbies can change whether or not you have a zombie outbreak. Shiiiiiiiit - we're not the worst timeline!

The blue and orange look is for the trashier towns.

I've seen several that look like the top pic. So are you saying that they didn't use to look like that?

dj88masterchief OP t1_j6l1aam wrote

Yea, I think it was somewhere between 2010-2015 the white buildings showed up as a redesign and they got rid of their Orange and Blue brick stores.

pattron30000 t1_j6l2016 wrote

That was the detail I was missing. I was like "There's NO WAY there's a Cumbies in Worcester that still looks like this. Besides, the cigarettes are WAY too cheap for this to be a current picture."

This is so much more important than anything I’ve got going on today. I say we riot until they fix it.

I work for Cumbies facilities support, and the store on the bottom is referred to as a legacy store. Top looks to be a converted legacy store lol.

I worked at the Cumbys in North Grafton for 3-4 years. I actually zoomed in on the picture to see if I was behind the counter before I realized the store was very similar, but not this exact one. I like the legacy stores more than the newer looking ones.

Legacy stores brings back my childhood memories and I love that. From my jobs perspective, they are much more likely to have the sewage back ups

OandKrailroad t1_j6mwx0y wrote

Thankfully that never happened where I worked. It was always a concern for me though because the sink where we made coffee and washed out the carafes had all its grey water pool in a tank and when there was enough of it, it was pumped out of the tank, up to the ceiling level where it traveled through the store, into the back room where it drained out into a big sink. It smelled absolutely putrid. I don’t know how it wasn’t a heath code violation.

Awesome place though. I miss working there sometimes!

My brother lives near a grungy AF ‘legacy store’ in Cumberland and I love it. Always soak it up when I go in knowing that one day soon it’ll be a thing of the past.

2003 is a long time ago for me to remember specifically what cumbies looked like then. I still see a few that look like the bottom picture and if my memory serves me correct I saw the white ones popping up around turn of century when I was graduating high school...

Seriously my first thought was "wait a minute, that's not what Cumby's would have looked like in 2003..." Glad I'm not the only one.
