I live in MD, but am getting to know Arlington, VA a bit better. I'd like to visit Gravelly Point one of these days coming up. If I'm driving down from MD, is there a coffee place that's nearby that either has parking (without plunking $20 to park in a garage for a quick coffee carry-out) or is within walking distance of Gravelly Point? Thank you!

Closest place would be Old Town, depending on your route from MD to Gravelly point. Its off the parkway so there isnt anything right next to it.

Nothing right there. I’ll put in a plug for Mah Ze Dahr bakery & coffee in Crystal City. Should be some hourly street parking around, and it’s excellent stuff.

Actually if you just want coffee there is a place just south of the airport - in the old restaurant area on the right at the marina.

“Old Town” as in Old Town Alexandria? how would that be the “closest place”, if Gravelly Point is next to Reagan..? Crystal City’s right there and there’s free parking in the garages on the weekends

There isn’t really anything next to Gravelly Point. My favorite coffee shops in Arlington are Northside Social in Clarendon and Origin in Pentagon City (which is closer to your destination). Getting to Gravelly Point from the north isn’t going to be the easiest, you’ll end up routed right by DCA most likely.

Heck the SW waterfront in DC is closer to Gravelly Point than Old Town!

I’d recommend Crystal City, especially if there’s a farmers market at that plaza next to the path which connects to Mt Vernon Trail / Gravelly Point.

caution if you're going to anywhere in or around arlington, avoid any lot that says enforced by Advanced Towing.

There is a small local chain with many locations in Arlington. They are called Star Bucks. Usually have some locations near enough to the airport.

One in Roslyn at the corner of Clarendon Blvd a d N. Oak St could give you parking and quick access to GW Parkway to get back to Gravely Point.

Origin in Pentagon City is fantastic, as someone previously mentioned. Commonwealth Joe, also in Pentagon City, is another favorite. It’s not as pleasant a place to sit and drink at the moment since it’s adjacent to the Amazon construction. Origin is in a courtyard type thing with lots of nice places to sit.
