Overnight street parking around Pentagon/Crystal City in Arlington?

I am visiting my friends in Arlington for five days. Since I’m considering taking subway to get around, I need to park my car somewhere overnight. I know there’re some garages but just wondering if it is also possible to park in street overnight and if so how is the cost calculated in terms of weekends and weekdays and do I need to move it every few hours? Appreciate it for any information!

I know this isn't what you asked but I don't know how common it is for people to know it is possible to park your car overnight for free in Crystal City with no problem, even for days. You just need to leave after 6/6:30 or whenever it is.

Oh thx! Good to know that. I’m just not sure if it’s allowed to park overnight even if I have to pay after a specific time in the morning it is ok.

It's so common you should be fine. My favorite spot is the first entrance after turning right onto Crystal Dr from 15th Street. When you get to the bottom of the garage there is sort of a separate area to the right and rear (behind you). Even if you take a ticket because you pull in during the day the gates are up in the evenings. At least they used to be. If not there then on 23rd.

I wouldn't count on this. Sometimes they are up in the evenings, sometimes they aren't.

I live in Crystal City across the street from the Crystal City Metro station. Google Map yourself to 1750 Crystal Drive, and park in one of the two garages between 1750 and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. They are free 4pm-8am and all weekend, and overnight parking is 100% permitted.

Much of the Pentagon/Crystal City is governed by PayMobile stations or area permits. Some PayMobile areas are 12-hour limits, which would be ideal if you want to minimize the number of times you have to move your car. (One example is the block of Joyce Street next to VA Highlands Park.) I think the PM 12-hour zone rate is about $1.50-75 per hour, so $18-21/day plus a nominal fee.

Some permitted areas have no restrictions between 5PM Friday and 8AM Monday. Joyce Street south of the park fits into that.

Fern Street between 18th and 23rd features both the 12-hour ParkMobile spots and the free-weekend spots.

Crystal City Shops parking is free before 6am and after 4pm on the weekdays, and is free throughout the weekend. $21/day max.

EDIT: As you move away from the immediate Metro vicinity, your options for free street parking improve. For instance, the 1200 block of South Nash Street is often available and is only ten minutes' walk from the Pentagon City Mall.

There are no signs saying you can’t. It’s a low-traffic, quiet residential area; you should be okay to do that.

One suggestion is to walk up to a front desk of a hotel and ask if their parking lot requires a parking ticket. A lot of hotels let customers park their cars without any signage, which also means you can just park your car overnight for multiple days without staying at the hotel. I've done this at Marriotts before, just not ones in Arlington.

on the other hand, Crowe Plaza in crystal city charges $40/night. Parked on the street right around the corner in front for free.

Interesting. I guess a lot of these hotels near DC actually charge for parking. That's unfortunate.

Franconia-Springfield and Huntington each have a small number of multi-day parking spots. I would try to park there and ride metro up to Crystal city. It's 4.95 per day IF you take the metro back to your car when you leave.
