I’m a college student looking for a BYOB place to take a group of friends to dinner this Friday, I’ve been to Iggy’s in Mount Vernon before but it looked like it may be closed? Any suggestions that are vegetarian friendly??

Twist is great. Has an upscale feel to it with solid food for a reasonable price.

They serve alcohol now?

Yep! Got their liquor license and opened up a new dining room like a year or so ago.

Mystic Burrito just opened across the street from the Patterson theater. They allow BYOB and there’s a liquor store right across the street.
breeziana t1_j9oyyjz wrote
Didn’t know they were BYOB. Delicious burritos.
Off the Rox is also an excellent nearby source of drinks.
NeatLeft t1_j9p502x wrote
Yup, that’s how it was at Avenue Sushi as well (the restaurant before that) which was owned by Mystic Burrito’s brother!

Villagio cafe on York near Towson. Lots of vegetarian options. Also on the same block is a duck pin bowling ally that is also BYOB

Mystic Burrito might be a bit casual but their burritos are phenomenal! Honestly, hand to god the best I've had in the city. There is huge lettering on the wall that says BYOB so that's my only info on whether or not they allow for outside bevvies.

Why BYOB when you can buy it there? Also, Tandav in Fells.
Edit: obviously a bad choice of sarcasm. I do appreciate the downvotes though, so keep ‘em coming!!

Probably because they can buy an $12 bottle of wine and not pay $12 per glass at the restaurant.
YoYoMoMa t1_j9on836 wrote
It'll be about $9 for the glass, but yes, markup for a bottle is usually around 300%. But BYOB usually comes with a corking fee so it is not completely free either, but it is cheaper.

Fair point!
bee_more_kind t1_j9qjcow wrote
Because you can drink higher quality liquor at a lower price point- you can drink a special or celebratory bottle, you have direct control of the amount of alcohol you consume…

There are some in fed hill area - Byblos, zaatar, Brendali… zaatar is definitely my favorite particularly for byob, it’s just so much more spacious and is a bar converted into a restaurant and they have a blender and already have some nonalcoholic drink options on the menu that are perfect as mixers (mint lemonade)
