Have a nice dinner at Topside in Mt. Vernon! The view of the neighborhood is amazing.

If you're a runner or cyclist, head north from campus on Maryland Ave, hang a left down the hill on the other side of the bridge, and pick up the Jones Falls Trail. Lots to explore in Druid Hill Park (which it runs through) and the trail is a nice ride north of there too

Get coffee and a steak, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich at Doobys. Sit in the park for people watching and breakfast. The best spot is by the fountain on the West side of the park. Wonderful spot to read a book or listen to a podcast.

Later get the jerk chicken wrap and sweet potato fries at Cafe 1908. Pick up vegan ice cream at Cajou Creamery on Howard St.

I find taking the light rail to Lake Roland Park (Falls Creek Station) is a very nice and cheap trip. The Inner Harbor is nice to walk around too when its warm enough.

I say this as a new Towson student originally from out of state (PA)

I love going around to the different neighborhoods and checking out the amazing architecture. Big fan of the art/music scene around here as well

DC and Philly are just 45 minutes away so I can visit better cities

Baltimore's a pretty sizeable city with a whole lot of unique vibes. Starting from UMB you can go in almost any direction and find something interesting, especially with some street smarts in hand.

For two things that are a reasonable walk/bike/bus ride south from UMB, I might recommend the American Visionary Art Museum and Baltimore Museum of Industry, both are great and have plenty of other cool stuff nearby

Go to cafe 1908 on Preston; they have the best wraps and garlic herb fries, there’s also a small grocery store in walking distance on Edgar st called Eddie’s.

The people. The great neighborhoods to explore. The festivals. Once you’re here, you’ll fall in love with the city and be here for life.

Great neighborhood. I live about 7-8 blocks from UMB. You will enjoy the city. So much to do. Music, exercise, sports, close to DC/Philly. Great food and people. Come on down!!!!
