I was just summoned for Jury Duty for April. I served one day in August and was under the impression that the next time I’d get called was for August. Is getting summoned twice within a 365 day period normal for Baltimore City?

This happened to me recently. If you call, they will excuse you because you already served within the year.

Just call and let them know, they'll postpone it. You only have to serve once per year.

Right, but are they serving over two years? They served in August 2022 and that was last year now and April 2023 is a new year.

Is it federal or local? Federal is a whole different story.

This just happened to me too. I served one day in June 2022 and got a summons for April 2023. I was also going to call them - but figured I’d just be kicking the can further down the road since I’ll get summoned in a couple months anyways. I guess I might as well get it over with. But I do believe you can call them and they’ll postpone it for you.

You should call to clarify. I recently served in September 2021 and then was summoned again to go in January 2022 and I had to go despite calling. The person on the phone would not allow it to be postponed but I didn’t fight it I just went.

If I remember correctly, the form they send you has a field to enter in the last time you were called to jury duty.

Happened to me (after I actually got picked for a jury and served two days!). The only annoying thing was unlike all of the other parts, you can't work it out online. I did send in the physical form and that was it, though.

The penalty for non compliance is jail. I’d rather be moderately inconvenience then have a court on my case
