Hi all. I am going to a concert at Soundstage this week which will probably end around 11pm. I know very little about the city and area around soundstage. I am a little anxious about driving home after the concert since I have heard about car jackings occurring in the city, and figure they are more likely to occur at night.

Will it be safe to drive back around 11? Any advice for avoiding carjackings/other trouble while driving in the city at night?

Also, any advice for good/safe places to park near soundstage?

You have a substantially better chance of getting into a car accident on the way to/from Baltimore than being carjacked. You basically have to win the crime lottery because it’s very rare. I wouldn’t worry about it in the least.

There’s a garage next to soundstage. It’ll take a little bit to get out if you leave right when the concert ends but you’ll literally be right there.

Soundstage is like 5 minutes from the highway, you’ll be fine.

The odds you get car jacked by soundstage of all places, especially at 11pm when there will be a ton of people still around is 0.000000001% you’ll be fine

I completely agree that the likelihood of getting carjacked is extremely small. I am in no way suggesting that you are in danger. However one trick that I do in neighborhoods that I'm worried about, is when I pull up to a light I keep ample space between me and the car in front of me, If I needed to suddenly pull out and go around the car in front of me I'd be able to do it.

And, very sincerely, you are quite safe.

Make sure to keep your lights off and never signal, you’ll fit right in

My tip for driving in Baltimore at any time of day is wait a second or two after the light turns green to make sure you don’t get t-boned.

I've driven through downtown Baltimore around 3am-4am on the way home to NJ from a 14hr straight drive from Georgia. It was nice and quiet.

Soundstage has plenty of security, in and outside, there is a garage down the street you should park in. Usually is slammed after shows but safe and worthwhile. If I'm not mistaken the venue has a deal with them for parking as well

I work right by there and have parked in that garage late at night many times with absolutely no issues. That area is pretty safe in general from my experiences. Getting to the highway once you’re in your car is also pretty quick, just a few turns and you shouldnt be driving through any bad areas to get there

And gives you room to maneuver if an emergency vehicle needs to get through.

There's like a jillion reasons to allow extra space between yours and other vehicles, some of them based in self preservation and others based in just like, preparing for the unexpected.

Just park in the garage right next to soundstage, it’s 5 feet to the door.

Downtown? Before 11? You are more likely to be harassed by the staff at soundstage than assaulted or carjacked. Have fun!

I drive in Baltimore at night all the time, and I live in a semi-rough neighborhood. I keep my car doors locked, but I am much more concerned about the average skills of Baltimore drivers than about carjackings
