Any restaurants actually make this any more? My dad is stuck in the hospital (Hopkins) after a botched surgery and this would make him happier than absolutely anything else. Thanks for any tips.

EDIT: Hopkins is amazing! They didn’t botch the surgery, the shitty franchise rehab nursing home did.

If you're able to make the trip, Prost in Aberdeen has it!

Shultz’s in Essex has Sour beef and dumplings on Wed and Sun. Sometimes Two Guys in Essex has it too.

Willy's Kitchen in Glen Burnie does Sour Beef once a week or so. Check their Facebook page for when they offer it.

Silver Spring (?) Mining Company has it. It’s a chain; there’s one in Bel Air.

Ah, if only Haussner's was still open, your dad would be over the moon.

The best sour beef & dumplings I ever had was from "German dinner" that ran some weeknights at Duesenberg's in Catonsville. Unfortunately the lady who did those dinners stopped that at least 10 years ago, and Duesenberg's is gone.

If you want Baltimore style sour beef which is different then traditional sauerbraten this is the answer. The recipe was part of the sale of the original Belair Rd location in Perry Hall to the group that owns it now and attempted to make it a regional chain. I have it for lunch once a month during the winter.
