I wanted to say like 5-10 blocks but I was concerned I was really off. Your comment is well taken.

Do you remember the cuisine? Unfortunately, a lot of places didn’t survive the pandemic, so there’s a good chance it’s in the Great Beyond for restaurants.

Basement bars were already in trouble and generally a dying breed even before the pandemic too

You’re not wrong

Ty for all the comments about the basement restaurants disappearing.

Just American fare. No focus that I recall.

Maybe the basement of brewers art?

That’s what I was thinking. Is that bar still around?

Ty all. I'll check that out as well.

The Brewers Art site says it opens at 4pm. I was hoping for lunch. :(

Are you trying to find a specific restaurant, or just lunch?
rgbarometer OP t1_jecd6q6 wrote
I was trying to find a specific restaurant I'd been to a while ago. It was decorated very different from other restaurants, and I don't recall enough to explain what I mean. If I can't go there, then I'm just loooking for lunch, preferably a place with a parking lot.
KingBooRadley t1_jecf4ci wrote
American food and free parking. Sounds like you're looking for the suburbs.

The restaurants mentioned above are not corner row houses. There was a restaurant in the basement of a row house on the corner about 5 years ago, across from the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Cathedral and Biddle streets. Closed now. It was great. The building houses a boutique hotel now. They really could do well to open a restaurant there again!
rgbarometer OP t1_je9udgb wrote
I'll check that out to see if it's what I'm talking about. Thanks for saying a lot of them have disappeared. Can you recommend a place near Second Chance were there's a decent chance I could park a car?
jturner5858 t1_je9umvg wrote
The Horseshoe Casino is there with a parking garage but there are so many great restaurants in Baltimore. Parking is not the biggest concern.
PigtownDesign t1_jead0n4 wrote
There are several restaurants on Washington Blvd. just off of MLK, which is about 1/4 mile from 2nd Chance.
PigtownDesign t1_jeb0f37 wrote
No restaurant there anymore. And it's not a boutique hotel anymore, either. It seems like a flop-house/airbnb if their clientele is anything to go by.
Source: my parking lot backs up to that building.

There was a nice bar-restarurant on Pratt St across from the entrance to the RR museum.

All done and over. I was outvoted. We went to Cracker Barrel and had a ton of food for the price, including marshmallow whip with nuts and syrup on a baked potato!

A few miles is basically the whole city. Or did you mean a few blocks?
