That’s how Hopkins does it. You’ll get paid extra if you pick up an extra shift of course but not if you have to stay late (ex: next shift was late, patient coded, etc). You also work an average of 40 hours per week instead of 36. IIRC this works out to for every 6-week scheduling period, you have to work 2 additional shifts than you would if you were 36 hours. They also only pay out half of what your PTO is worth when you quit. That sucked.

I had a decent experience there as a new grad. I liked the residency program, my nurse manager was great, and my coworkers were happy to teach. Nice to have Hopkins on my resume but they’re not a great employer.
