Parking is tough. About 2/3 of Fells parking requires a residential permit if you want to park more than 2 hours. Unfortunately this doesn't help much because A) there's a lot of residents and B) a lot of tourists etc coming and going for 2 hours looking for parking. No set spots.

The 1/3 of parking that is nonresidential permit is obviously even tougher. Basically I don't have too much of a problem finding parking in the day time during the week, maybe ten minutes of circling, but Thur - Sunday morning is really tight. I'm willing to walk s long ways but in the evenings on Friday and Saturday there is just nowhere to park. And the frequent festivals/special events are rough. This marathon thing on Saturday was a shit show with the tow trucks and what not, for example.

Solution: I work from home, so I do all car based errands on weekdays. Weekends I'm walking everywhere.

I am very fortunate that I also work from home, so I can definitely stick to the schedule that you follow yourself. I really appreciate your answer!

If you don’t mind, do you like the area otherwise? I’ve visited on vacation once and fell in love with the city. I found a really nice house that I’m looking at buying if the in person visit goes well.

Also do you drive for groceries or are their affordable walkable options?

No pressure on my other questions. Truly, thank you for responding!

There’s a Whole Foods, Target, Sprouts, Harris Teeter and Safeway all in Harbor East or Canton. No shortage of groceries. Fells Point has great shops and restaurants too.

You are going to buy after only visiting once? Personally I would rent for a year to make sure the city is the right location for you, especially if you don’t have private parking.

That’s a valid concern but I am at the point where I am sick of renting and would prefer to actually own property.

I was in Baltimore for a full week and explored the different neighbor hoods. I like it better than Philly.

This house is not my end all be all choice and I will be looking around at other options. I just wanted to have a better idea of what I was looking at for this house specifically.
