I usually drive for groceries. I'm halfway between whole foods and Canton Safeway, but I don't really like either store and I don't like schlepping grocery bags on foot. So I go to Canton or uptown if it's a big grocery trip. But if it's one bag or some other thing like hardware (great Ace store by the Safeway) or whatever I just walk. It's such a great neighborhood to walk in, Harbor East, Little Italy, Patterson Park, Canton all walkable from Fells. I love that! Everyone is incredibly cool and friendly that lives and works in the neighborhood. Days are pleasant. Some great shops, beautiful streets, restaurants, bars, cafes, etc.

Downside to Fells for me is the traffic and noise at night. People act like no one lives here, like it's their personal playground. The worst is this bicycling bar thing that circles the neighborhood at night on weekends, everyone screaming and blasting horrible music, blocking traffic going 2 mph. (I swear I'm not a boomer!) Honing horns and drunk people littering. Then the Baltimore motorcycle crews parading through the area and those stupid three wheelers with the arena sound systems at all hours of the night...

So yeah, good and bad. Just make sure you live more than three blocks away from Broadway Square. Any closer and everything I said in the last paragraph is exponentially worse.

If you need a quick part or piece of hardware it’s always worth checking Hi’s Variety if that’s closer to you. Those two guys have saved me a lot of trips!

Oh it's a hell of a lot closer, I've just never gone in. It looks like an awesome store though

I noticed Canton Safeway sells those upright carts which could make groceries easier!
