The City Board of Elections Director stated on WYPR this morning that they are still looking for at least 900 judges for Election Day (8 Nov).

I had applied a couple weeks ago and just received a prospective election judge letter today. (I tried to upload a pic but couldn’t do that plus include text. :/) Per the letter, if you’re interested in volunteering, you can apply online (see link in comment below) & then immediately call the Call Center @ 1-855-476-5840 to sign up for a training class.

Added bonus I learned on WYPR- apparently they pay Election judges $200 for the day. Quite a bit better than we get for jury duty. (And yes, I know Election Day is much longer and also entirely voluntary.)

I filled out an application over a month ago and haven’t heard anything. Anyone know if there’s a way to check on application status?

I can’t imagine they are rejecting anyone at this point. Based on the letter I received, it didn’t seem to matter if I had/had not already submitted the application. I would just go ahead and call the call center— you should be able to resubmit the application quickly while on the call if necessary.

Does this apply if I live in the county?

Thanks for posting this. I had submitted an application but never heard anything back - but I just called that number and am scheduled for training next week!

I don't know why they bother with general elections here. The Democrat is gonna win.

I'm realtively new to the city, and none of the places I've lived before had election judges (that I know of). What does an election judge do and why do they need so many volunteers to do it?

If you’ve voted before, you’ve seen election judges (they may have just been called something else, I donno). They are the people who are involved with all things at the polling site on Election Day: checking you in, handing your your ballot, making sure it gets scanned/counted, etc.
