Neighborhood for Ft. Meade Commuter

I'm a young single college graduate looking to move to Maryland and have been considering Baltimore as a destination. I've done a fair bit of research and have been generally considering between either the Federal Hill / Riverside/ Locust Point neighborhoods and the Fells Point / Canton neighborhoods.

I think my decision (if within Baltimore) will be more dependent on what's the best out of the available places to rent rather specifically wanting to live in either of those two areas, but I want to still hear some fresh opinions on the two areas (and a bit specifically, how much worse my commute would be living near Fells Point over Federal Hill).

If you live in Fed Hill, etc. you won’t have to pay the toll for the tunnel. I live in Fed Hill, it’s nice. I can’t speak to living in any other neighborhoods.

Ft. Meade is east, so you want to be no further west than 95. I would say Fed Hill/Harbor East only so you don't need to deal with the tunnel. Also because you can use surface streets to get around if traffic gets really bad.

For example, I'm between 95 and 70/29. But I can use Rt. 1 to get home if traffic is awful.

Fed and locust are your best bet, both great neighborhoods with fed being more of the young crowd and nightlife but locust point being safer and quieter. Both have easy access to 95 and 295. Canton is also great but you might hit tunnel traffic while commuting.

Not going to recommend a specific area, but plenty of people use MARC to commute from Penn Station to Odenton, and there’s a free ~8 min shuttle from there. If you sign up for the MTBP you’ll save like $3k a year and it could open up more spots in the city you could be interested in.
