I've seen these around the city in other neighborhoods in the city and recently a light in my neighborhood got one of these purple bulbs. They are hardly bright enough to see anything and they make everything they illuminate look very strange. What is the deal with these things?

Interesting. The one in question looks like it's been reported as faulty but I think it recently got replaced with the purple bulb so it needs to be reported again? Or maybe someone already beat me to reporting it. Anyway, thanks, this info is super helpful

A recent discussion on them. They’re a manufacturer error and are supposed to be reported to BGE
