This is the answer. Hot take: persimmon bread is better than pumpkin bread. Fight me.

Thank you guys!! I've been wanting to make bread and jam. Now if I could find crabapples, that'd be awesome lol

Very nice! I dont go into the city much so this is the first I've ever heard of H mart lol. Sounds like a cool place to check out.

I don't think there is one in the city, but there are two on Rt 40, one in Catonsville and one in Ellicott City. I do most of my grocery shopping there. They have the best and cheapest produce I've ever seen in MD. They also have great, weird little shops to eat in right in the store. Definitely worth a trip.

I've seen a few persimmon trees in the city. Very common in the forests.

I've found a few trees growing around liberty reservoir, now is the time the fruit is ripening

In my front yard, I have a tree full that are almost ripe if the squirrels would stop stealing them. This years batch looks much better than the past few. The tree is about 11 years old, planted it myself.

Oh awesome! Love that you planted it yourself and have got to watch it grow. Our neighbor planted a fig tree and the squirrels have been ravenous for them so I understand what you mean lol. I think the blue jays are getting at my purple berry bush too (can't remember the name of it). Hopefully it'll come back!

We planted two brown turkey figs at the same time as the persimmons. We got awesome harvests the first year or two but the squirrels discovered them and now they belong exclusively to the squirrels. We find half eaten figs all over the yard and in our oak tree.

Persimmon trees grow well here, but I don’t personally know of any in the city. Lots of international markets should have them-maybe even the Price Rite in Pigtown.

Follow @botanybaltimore on Instagram for local plant and tree info yes persimmons are very common

They're sometimes in the "exotic fruit" sections of grocery stores. If you can make it to H-mart they'll have them (fresh and dried) for sure. If you're interested in foraging American Persimmons, there's a tree on Hopkins Homewood campus along Charles street. I think there's also a street tree on 27th and Maryland, somewhere thereabouts. Check fallingfruit.org
