Hello fellow Baltimore City residents. Somehow over the course of my 11 years in the city, I've managed to avoid Columbia. This Saturday, I have to take a trip there and figured screw it, we'll do either lunch or dinner while out there.

What are your favorite spots for a nice meal in Columbia? Cost doesn't particularly matter, nor does the cuisine (although we do love more out there tasting menu's and weird shit, but trying to stay away from a "The Charleston" vibe).

Thank you all.

If you like Indian food, Royal Taj.

I second Royal Taj. The food is terrific, but it’s also worth going there just to sit in the dining room

The mystery wine of dubious quality really adds to the atmosphere.

I’ve never had a problem with their wine, either by the bottle or by the glass, but I’m no connoisseur

Haha no that wasn’t a dig I just was surprised when a round of the unidentified wine appeared my first time there.

The most recent time we ate there, we were each gifted a drink of Bailey’s/Fireball. Sounds awful. Was good.

I love Victoria Gastro Pub. Their lobster grilled cheese is always incredible.

It’s always so crowded tho. Like most places in Columbia bc they don’t seem to have enough restaurants in general

Stanford Grill is the answer.

Atmosphere is lovely. Food is excellent. Service is high marks. A friend and I went there as a “treat yourself” dinner on a random weekday night. It was lovely. They had live piano, it’s so quiet and feels fancy without being stuffy.

And obviously the steaks were very good. :)

Stanford Grill all the way! Fabulous relaxed, slightly swanky atmosphere....their steak salad is to die for and the drinks are always top notch. Servers and bartenders are 100% on their game.

Cazbar Turkish Restaurant is lovely. Great food, drinks and service, and they usually have belly dancers on Saturday evenings.

Taqueria La Patrona is the best taco truck around. They close at 7, I would highly recommend!

I used to live in Baltimore city for 4 years and moved out here a couple of years ago, there's actually quite a few cool places, and a ton of new ones on the way in the next year. I love trying out new places

Royal taj is good as people have mentioned(was better when they had the buffet)

Clarksville Commons is pretty cool, it's kind of like one of the public markets in the city and has a nice restaurant bushel and a peck on top

The lak at Merriweather hotel is nice and has nice views of the lake

For a nicer upscale vibe I'd recommend 18th and 21st or Xenia, both with love jazz The food market is near 18thand21st and is excellent

Also iron bridge is a pretty nice vibe

Busboys and poets in the new Merriweather district has a cool vibe, and quite a few new restaurants walking distance from there to try as well, Thai place and some fusion, as well at the charmery for ice cream

Columbia also has cazbar which is awesome

Madrid Spanish taverna is good

Dive bar a grille is cool and they got a nice bar in the basement with a pool table

And old Ellicott city is close and has quite a few awesome places as well

And there's way way more,. especially if you realize when looking at suburbs you should really include the whole county, so looking at all of Howard County really widens your options, and you'll still be within a 15 minute drive of Columbia
