Hi all!

I am looking for a chill singing group to join. I used to be in chorus/theatre growing up and miss the energy of singing in a group. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance 😊

not sure about singing groups but I can vouch for Baltimore's Karaoke League

There's Shape Note singing on the fourth Thursdays of the month from 7-9:30 at the Four Hour Day Lutherie. Definitely energetic. No meetings in November or December due to the holidays at those periods, but it'll start up again in January.

I‘ve wanted to try shape note singing. Is it true that one doesn’t need any musical aptitude or ability to read music?

Yes! It was designed to teach people to understand the pitches of notes in relation to one another and to read music. I also think the Baltimore group is great for beginners - we'll re-sing a particular part if that section needs a bit more practice

find a chill liberal church with a choir like Emmanuel Episcopal or Grace and St. Peter's Episcopal!

Thanks, but I’m part of the tribe (Jewish) 😊

tons of the choir people in liberal churches are Jewish lol it's a running joke. when we go up to take communion like 80% of them cross their arms and take a blessing instead
