If you’re willing to take a drive, one of my favorite places is Great Sage In Clarksville.

One World is pretty good for breakfast but it’s definitely not “fancy”.
BoiFriday t1_iw3apo2 wrote
This is the answer. Baltimores only “fancy” vegan dining.

Go to an indian or ethiopian restaurant. You could walk into either one and order vegetarian dishes that would make even a meat eater satisfied

Byblos in Fed Hill has amazing non-meat and pro-meat options!

I came here to say the Helmand as well.

Highly recommend Alma Cocina Latina (Venezuelan food) in Station North. Delicious mushroom risotto and several vegetarian apps/small plates in a beautiful setting (feels like a jungle with plants all over). Less fancy but Clavel also has delicious Mexican food and drinks (but prepare to wait if you go later than 5, as they don't take reservations)

Hell ya, love Great Sage. Another good Howard County spot with a lot of vegetarian stuff is Ananda!

I’ve never been there; will have to check it out. I’m not even vegetarian and I think Great Sage is awesome! I love the pierogi quesadilla

My favorite meal ever! Kaddo Borawni, vegetarian mantwo (vegetarian dumplings, delish!), Afghan ice cream, and cardamom tea!

Yup, my bad. I missed the fancy qualifier.

Shame that the media decided to cancel vegetarians, its all vegan trash now.
I just want to have the choice to avoid meat, not have every good thing about food completely removed from my life lmao.

Liquid Earth in Fells Point, not really fancy but the best vegan/vegetarian food around and juices too.

Happy birthday! I assume you already went out, but for the future: Cookhouse in Bolton Hill often features at least one plant-based ~fancy~ dining option. The restaurant itself is small and would be a great birthday spot! Good drinks if you drink, too. Current plant based (and gluten free!) option is risotto (arborio rice, wild mushrooms, wine, mushroom stock, plant-based parmesan).
My best buddy is vegetarian. When they wanna take me out for dinner they always have me decide on the location so I try to look at the menus and straight up ask "which item sounds best" and go from there, hahaha.

Would go to Helmand save for the fact that I was in Sangin in 2006-07. It may sound stupid but “go to Helmand” activates some PTSD for me. Perhaps takeout someday.

Not fancy, though.

I used to go there fairly regularly with vegan friends, but it seemed like it deteriorated over time. Last visit (pre pandemic) the service was bad and the coffee was execrable. Has it gotten better?

They are usually short staffed (especially when it’s busy) but they try to be nice about it. As for the coffee, I’m not much of a connoisseur so I can’t really speak to the quality. To me, it’s fine, but if you have high standards maybe it would be underwhelming?

Liora and Double Zero are both relatively fancy all vegan spots on the inner harbor. I’ve been to both with meat eaters and they’ve really enjoyed them.
My go-to is the Helmand in Mt. Vernon though.
