I desperately need to find a therapist around the Baltimore area. I have tried a therapist at Hopkins but I couldn’t really connect with her so I had to breakup with her. So much shit is happening in my life at the moment and I need to find a new therapist before I lose my sanity. Do you have any recommendations for a therapist? I prefer a female but I am not married to that idea. I have done both zoom and in person sessions but I have found in person sessions to be more productive.

Go to the psychology today website, enter your insurance and the particular issues you need to address (anxiety, depression, etc), and where is convenient for you. Pick Five, call them all, confirm they take your insurance and schedule an appointment.

You’re dealing with some hard shit, and it’s hard to be patient when you are trying to get better. You’re worth the effort, I promise.

I second every part of this advice! Cast the net wide using psychologic today's website and you'll find practitioners. If you find someone who isn't accepting new clients, ask them for recommendations for other practitioners, they can use their network.

If you have good insurance, check out their out-of-network coverage. Because it seems like most therapists don't "take insurance" but you can get partially reimbursed by filing a claim yourself.

I highly recommend contacting the Anxiety and Stress Disorder Institute of MD (ASDI). I contacted them a few years ago, I went through a brief phone interview and they matched me with a therapist in their system. I was very lucky and got matched with a great therapist. If your initial match does not work they will work with you to find a better match.

I’ve had a great experience with PsychCare in Pikesville! They have several therapists with the practice and the front desk/admin staff has been really wonderful in my experience

I had a good experience at Chase Brexton (several locations, i went to Mt Vernon). They are especially focused on gender and sexuality related issues, but my stuff was not that and it was still a very good experience, my therapist understood very well what i needed.

I recommend the Baltimore Center for Psychotherapy in Hampden. Lots of good therapists who likely have openings

Lola's Village - when I was having a serious, immediate crisis they were one of the few places currently accepting, got me seen fast, really connected with my therapist, and has televisit options.

I see Greater Baltimore Counseling Center. Both my Thera and my psychiatrist is out of that practice. They do telehealth too.

If you’re looking for more than someone to passively listen, I recommend Boyd Eustace. You can read up on him on Psychology Today. He gets to the point and helps you see what you need to fix, rather than that “Uh huh, tell me more” stuff.
